Homeopathy Successfully Treated Alopecia Areata in a 2-Year-Old Child

Two-year-old Miss A.R. suffered from six alopecia areata patches, frequent scratching, rash, boils, and mild eczema. She also experienced cold, cough, urticaria, and iron deficiency. After detailed case analysis, a constitutional homeopathic remedy was prescribed. It initially started when she was 3 months old but her hair regrew in a couple of weeks.The texture of her hair was very soft, fragile and had a tendency to break easily. Her scalp was dry. She used to vigorously scratch her hair, at times even while asleep.

Her frequent scratching of hair, wildly and rubbing head against the pillow would often result in dry skin, rash and boils on the scratched areas.She had mild eczema (mostly on face) since birth, which was treated conventionally. She was diagnosed as being iron deficient and therefore she was on iron supplements. The patient was allergic to penicillin.

Along with her complaints of Alopecia, she used to get frequent cold and cough. As well as thrush on her tongue and chronic urticaria.

Since her early childhood, she was very active. She was very loving and cared for her brother. Always tried to imitate her brother in whatever he did. She would get very anxious to get whatever she wanted. By nature, she was very adamant and would cry until she got what she had asked for. Her memory was good and could remember and repeat information. Another peculiarity was that she wanted things to be placed back after use (could not tolerate if milk bottles and caps were swapped).

She was very attached to her grandmother. She used to go to a childcare centre from the age of 7 months. The problems began when her grandmother who was residing with the patient left for India. The patient was upset as she was very attached to her.

After studying the detailed case history, she was prescribed a constitutional homeopathic remedy for her complaints. After 2 months of homeopathic treatment, small hair had started emerging on the alopecia patches. At the same time, 2-3 new spots were also noticeable.

Three months of further homeopathic treatment showed remarkable improvement in the patches wherein thin dull hair had grown on the bald patches.After further six months of continuation of the treatment, all her patches of Alopecia areata were treated completely.
